IJMC Not Yet the President

IJMC - Not Yet the President

Meets and greets to all from Helsinki, Finland. The International Junk
Mail Clearinghouse is on the road...and finding far too little Internet
Access along the way. I am currently sipping down a hot mocha in a little
net-cafe in a department store in a town call Helsinki. Sorry to all that
I did not send out a post before I left. I became rather busy tying
everything up between work and packing and home and everything. C'est la
vie. Many thanks to Lars and Anna for a delightful evening in Copenhagen,
what, only two nights ago? Time flies, trains run, ships sail, and I walk
a lot! Everything is good and I am quite enjoying my time here in Europe.

Ok, dave soapbox time...the US election was yesterday...but I still do not
know who to call president? I am sorry, but if the election is that close
between two of three candidates, I think we should have a run-off between
those two...one state, Florida, now holds the election in its hands, and
then, only by 1,200 votes! Oy! Well, I step down now, cause I need to send
this and get off the computer...someone else's turn! More later! -dave

Found this on the Soapbox:

I promised myself I wouldn't post anything about the Bush DUI thing to
Soapbox, but I just found this from the State Department's website:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offense. Penalties
are heavy, and any prior conviction (no matter how long ago or how
minor the infraction) is cause for exclusion from Canada. A waiver of
exclusion may be obtained from a Canadian consulate in the United
States, but several weeks are required. There is a processing fee for
the waiver.
                          http://www.travel.state.gov/tips_canada.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And, confirmed by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs website:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Driving while under the influence of alcohol is regarded as an
extremely serious offence in Canada, and persons with convictions for
this offence are inadmissible to Canada. Although Canada is similar to
other countries in preventing the admission of convicted offenders,
Canada does make provision to allow people with criminal records into
Canada under certain circumstances.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So, if Bush becomes President, he would need to get a special "Minister's Permit" in order to enter Canada!!!

Not to mention the fact that he and Cheney have two arrests each might make it hard for them to get Security Clearance...

Aren't we glad they're going to restore honor and dignity to the White
House?
