IJMC - Buckwheat's Still Dead
Or at least that's what Saturday Night Live is telling me yet again
tonight. Hmm, did they actually carry on the skit over two weeks or did
Comedy Central just split the show? I think two weeks, because Mr. Robert
Guillaume is hosting tonight's episode and I don't remember the guy who
hosted last night's episode (I would recognize him, but that don't do much
for anyone over email, now does it?). -dave
P.S. This one also comes from my source at a nearby news station, so it
has a little more likelyhood of not being urban legend...I should ask.
I thought you might find this one amusing, considering all the alcohol
related posts you've sent.... Judging by where most of the money comes
from, I think it sounds like a neat town to live in!
Strangers come to tiny town's aid
(Funkley, Minnesota) -- Strangers are trying to keep the tiny
Minnesota town of Funkley from becoming defunct.
A Lions Club 160 miles away in Waverly, Minnesota, is planning a
softball tournament to raise at least one-thousand dollars for the
town's empty coffers. That could be enough to keep the town going
for another year.
The 13 residents of Funkley got the news yesterday.
The town ran out of money after its only business -- the Funkley
Bar -- shut down three months ago.
The bar's annual liquor license fee of just over one-thousand
dollars was the bulk of the city budget. So Funkley officials began
considering dissolving their hamlet.
