IJMC - The Dangers of Technology
Tonight seems quite appropriate to this. I pulled this off of Mirabilis'
web site (the makers of ICQ...good people http://www.mirabilis.com/ )
"WorldCom has experienced a fiber cut between Washington, D.C. and
Baltimore, MD which is causing outages across UUNET's North American
Backbone. This may cause latency and sporadic outages for our
customers while traffic is being re-routed"
Not a good time to try to register the program, but well, I digress. I
just like that a backhoe is more likely to take down the Internet than a
hacker or a DNS routing error (I want the entire Internet routed through
my 486, Me! Me! Me!). Ahh well, at least the IJMC still gets through...
unless of course, you're behind that fiber outage...oops. -dave
At a recent Sacramento PC User's Group meeting, a company was
demonstrating its latest speech-recognition software. A representative
from the company was just about ready to start the demonstration and
asked everyone in the room to quiet down.
Just then someone in the back of the room yelled,
"Format C: Return."
Someone else chimed in:
"Yes, Return"
Unfortunately, the software worked.
